beyond closing the door: how to close the whole doorway

LIPINSKIMAY 18,1997 sometimes, a door may need to be removed from the renovation scheme and then the opening is closed.
Doing so can change the entrance of the room, give you more privacy, or add extra wall space.
Closing the doorways seems like a complex project, but in fact it\'s a relatively simple task for anyone with basic manual tool skills.
The only real trick to this work is to carefully plan and pay attention to the proper woodworking procedures.
Measure the opening first before you pick up any tool, then estimate and purchase the material you need.
This will eliminate the situation of running back and forth to the nearest home Center to purchase additional supplies.
From the door
Most interior doors have loose spots. pin hinges.

Measure the distance between the bottom plate and the double head of the new shoe (
2 nailed together by 4)
At the top of the opening ceremony.
Cut two lengths of 2 by 4 by this size.
Nail a 2 by 4 bolt on each side of the opening.
Make sure they are flush with existing bolts before you fix them in place.
Cut 2 more by 4 to fit the top between the newly installed bolts.

Finally cut a bolt to fit the center of the opening between the head and the sole.

Drive the nail at a certain angle so that it enters the side of the bolt and penetrates into the bottom and the surface of the top plate.
These 5 pieces 2 by 4 form the frame of the door closing.
The next step is to install the wall panel on the frame.
Carefully measure the opening, then cut two wall panels with a tool knife, one on each side.
Obviously, the thickness of the new wall panel must be the same (either 3/8-or 1/2-inch)

Ideally, the new wall panel patch should stick to the opening and flush with the surrounding walls. Use all-
